The standard swiftwater rescue course for river guides and teams.

The industry standard for river guides and teams who work on or in the water. SRT 3 builds on Level 2 with mechanical advantage systems, rescue scenarios and applied decision-making, following the Rescue Canada curriculum.

What to Expect

  • Swiftwater swimming and self-rescue
  • Rope systems, mechanical advantage and boat-based rescues
  • Entrapment and pinned-boat recovery
  • Full rescue scenarios and incident decision-making

Course Details

  • Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM daily
  • Location: Canmore and Kananaskis area rivers (meet at 1350 Railway Ave, Unit 100)
  • Prerequisites: comfortable swimming in moving water; good physical fitness
  • Minimum age: 16

What to Bring

  • Dry suit or full wetsuit (rentals may be available – ask when booking)
  • Helmet, PFD and river shoes if you have your own
  • Warm non-cotton layers, toque and a full change of clothes
  • Packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle
  • Notebook and pen
