Strolling Through Downtown Canmore

Downtown Canmore is a charming and quaint shopping experience.  You can browse local boutiques, art galleries, and gift shops. The area is known for its unique shops and locally made products. You can find everything from handmade jewelry to locally crafted artwork as well as a Quilter’s Paradise at the Sugar Pine Co.

Main Street closes off all access to cars from May to October, transforming the street into a pedestrian and cycle-friendly space to explore Canmore’s downtown core safely. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon exploring and soaking up the local atmosphere. In the summer months you can find buskers putting on shows with their unique skills and routines.

E-Bike the Legacy Trail 

One of Canmore’s most beloved trails by locals is the Legacy Trail along the Bow River. This 22 kilometer paved trail makes for a smooth and enjoyable ride from Canmore to Banff with views of the Canadian Rockies and the chance of wildlife sightings along the way.

Elevation Place 

Elevation Place is a truly unique facility featuring an aquatics centre, a climbing gym, fitness facilities, childcare services, the Canmore Art Guild Gallery and the Canmore Public Library.The aquatics facility includes a 25-metre lap pool with eight lanes, a leisure pool with a beach edge, a lazy river, a kids’ splash zone, 20 20-person hot tubs, and a steam room. Making it a perfect destination to beat the heat with the kids during the hot summer months.

The climbing gym includes 1,000 square meters of climbing surface up to 15 meters in height and over 100 colour-coded routes to accommodate various climbing abilities from beginner to experienced. Climbers have a choice of over 40 climbing lines for bouldering, top roping or lead climbing, including seven automatic belay systems for solo days. Affordable equipment rentals and free liquid chalk dispensers are available.
