You don’t need to be a mountaineer to capture stunning views and create your photographic memories. Here is a guide to some accessible views on foot or in your vehicle.
Three Sisters Parkway Lookout
Enjoy a bird’s eye view of Canmore from the south of town on the Three Sisters Parkway. This designated area is to allow drivers to pull over and enjoy the views safefly.
Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk
Running NW to SE, the Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk crosses town through the downtown core. This accessible walk is suitable for most abilities and immerses you in the local ecosystem.
Goat Creek Trailhead
A quick twelve minute drive brings you into the mountains for an up close view of Ha Ling Peak and Rundle Range, featuring Eeor Peak towering above. The entry level trail allows visitors to walk, run, bike or cross country ski to their perfect photo spot along the route. E-bikes are not permitted on this trail.
Grassi Lakes Trailhead
The Grassi Lakes Overflow parking lot just happens to have one of the best views of Ha Ling Peak and Minor’s Peak. Just off the side of the Three Sisters Parkway, Grassi Lakes Trailhead offers scenic backdrops of crystal clear turquoise lakes and waterfalls.
Quarry Lake Park
This closed loop trail meanders through a wide open valley with the mountains towering above. The flat trail makes it easy to bring kids for a family photo along the water. Quarry Lake Dog Park is also accessible and a favourite location for our furry friends.
Benchlands Ridge and Hoodoos Trail
A quick trip from downtown, this trail offers outstanding views of the Three Sisters and the ancient geological structures known as hoodoos. You can either venture this by foot and bike or park at the Benchlands Trail parking lot for a short walk to the Hoodoos.
Canmore Engine Bridge
Originally constructed by the Canadian Pacific Railway to serve coal mines, the Canmore Engine bridge is now a featured part of the Bow River Loop Trail. Popular amongst locals and visitors for special occasion photos, such as couple engagements, weddings and family portraits, the Canmore Engine Bridge has a beautiful view of the Bow River and its crystal blue waters.

Cougar Creek Viewpoint
Park at the off leash dog area on Bow River Trail (1A) and take a brief walk to the creek opening where you can capture spectacular sunrises through your lens.
Murals and Art Installations
Canmore features various murals and art installations throughout town that make for a unique photo opportunity. The Bow Valley Mural Project commissioned 5 murals throughout the valley to celebrate Canada 150.
The most popular installations for photos include Ceannmõre (The Big Head), Swan Mural behind Arts Place, and a graffiti mural by Pat Jakibiec.
